Insurance Information and Explaination (please read)
At East Columbus Oral Surgery Specialists we make every effort to provide you with the finest care and the most convenient financial options. Drs Mullendore and Von Kaenel believe excellent quality care should be available to everyone without penalizing those who only have the “best insurance, or those without insurance. To do so Drs Mullendore and Von Kaenel are IN NETWORK PROVIDERS with most Insurance Companies and offer a lower fee schedule than most (if not all) other providers in Central Ohio. As IN NETWORK PROVIDERS your fees are determined entirely by your insurance company. Consequently your fees should be the same with any IN NETWORK PROVIDERS. The difference between IN NETWORK PROVIDERS and those offices that “ACCEPT” your insurance is great. If you receive care from a provider that “accepts” your insurance you will pay their fee schedule and get reimbursed what you insurance deems their “Usual And Customary Fee Schedule” minus your deductible/co-pay. With IN NETWORK Providers you pay the same co-pay (this is non-negotiable and illegal to not collect) and then are charged according to your insurances “Usual And Customary Fee Schedule” only.
For example, if an IN NETWORK Provider fee is $400 but the insurance company’s fee is 300, you are charged based on the 300 fee (saving 100 dollars just because you are seeing an IN NETWORK PROVIDER). For an average person having wisdom teeth removed it is easily possible you could save 500-800 dollars by seeing an IN NETWORK PPROVIDER vs. a provider that only “accept” your insurance!
Please note, hundreds of different insurance plans exist and within each insurance provider many plans have been created and adjusted by your employer to their specifications. Because of this, additional time and prior authorizations may be needed to determine what exactly your benefits are. All of these inconveniences are determined solely by your insurance company. We will work hand-in-hand with you to maximize your insurance reimbursement for covered procedures. If you have any problems or questions, please ask our staff. They are well informed and here to assist you. They can be reached by phone at Columbus Office Phone Number 614-427-0400.
Note, in our many years of experience we have found some insurances are so difficult to work with that we do not accept them. This is because in our opinion they are deceitful and fight paying for services so much that our patients become frustrated with the providers. On a different note, for reasons we cannot explain, many insurance companies claim procedures are “covered” only to deny the claim. We do and will appeal these denied claims. Ultimately, if your insurance company denies payment you are responsible for the charges. Should this be the case we will work with you in every way possible.
